Yesterday, during a rare 12 hours of dry weather, husband and I dropped everything to paint the front of No 9 in the colours chosen by renoVoters. It was one of husband’s more hazardous pursuits – using a combination of skirting boards and wood offcuts, he propped one side of our ladder up on our very steep hill to reach the top of the house with a masonry brush. Meanwhile, I used my short stature and a masonry roller to paint the bottom half. Thanks to the nightmare of pebbledash, it also took about twice as long as we were expecting to work the paint into the wall. Next up, picking a colour for the front door!
