After much deliberation over colours (lemon? coral? purple?), we have finally started the stairs. Turns out it’s a trickier project than we first imagined (aren’t they all?), because if the budget doesn’t allow you a random hotel stay, you’ve got to paint every second tread and step on just the alternate treads until they dry. Our Dulux floor paint is supposed to cure within 24 hours, but as our stairs are windowless and breezeless, the painted steps are still a little tacky 44 hours on. Meanwhile, the risers need at least another two coats. Oh, my aching back.
