This past week has seen our first experience with tanking – our kitchen walls were definitely on the soggy side, so after we fixed the hole in the kitchen roof, we asked our plasterer to coat the wall with Sika’s waterproofing system (£35 a bag at Keyline, as long as you can convince them you’re a tradie – the only prerequisite seeming to be be paint-stained clothes and a five o’clock shadow). It’s made the kitchen walls a super dark grey, which husband and I both kind of love, but the horrified reaction of our plasterer when we suggested leaving them as is has shamed us into finishing the wall off with plaster.

My other achievement this week? Creating four different kitchens using B&Q’s online planning tool (diy.com) – watch out this weekend for the polls to open!
