It’s been raining in Plymouth a lot lately. The kind of constant, hammering rain that makes you want to book a flight to, well, anywhere. So last weekend I did the next best thing and hit up eBay on a mission to replace our current dining table, which is just too big for the room. The renoVotes about the style of our dining room were being cast as I shopped, so I wanted to find a table that could fit in with each of the three room themes. And after a few hours browsing (is it just me or does eBay make time go twice as fast?), I happened upon an Ercol dining table nearing the end of its auction. Made in the 1960s, it had just had one careful owner and was a relatively bargainous £180. I snapped it up and, after a drive up the A38 wondering if it was going to be too small (“What’s this? A dining table for ants?”), fell in love with it on sight.
