Update: the results are in! When we started stripping No 9, we weren’t just getting hit in the head by mouldy lengths of wallpaper – damp chunks of plaster were flying our way, too. Hence, most of the house’s plaster has had to come off altogether, the more stubborn pieces being steadily chipped off by our plasterer’s mate, with an expression of resignation and regret in his eyes. This has led to a lot of unplanned bare brick walls at No 9, leading us to wonder whether we should leave them be or proceed with a cover-up.

  • No, create your own version of New York loft style (81%)
  • Yes, leave those lofty ambitions at the door (19%)
