Our garden, after!

The garden, before

Having to deck a triangular surface on a slope had been keeping husband awake at night, but he needn’t have worried. By creating his own set of floor joists, he was able to lay a level section of decking with a step down to the rest of the garden. Trapezium-shaped flowerbeds made the garden feel bigger, as did cheap slate chips from Totem (Decorative Aggregate Blue Valley Slate, 3.99 a bag) and a few large paving stones. An assortment of plants from our local nursery added colour and, best of all, covered all the building rubble that lay beneath.

It has to get worse before it gets better

Hands up if you like hiding rubble!
